Women’s Rowing Wins
Three Races at the Head of the Riverfront
HARTFORD, Conn. (Oct. 4) --
The UConn women’s rowing team had a solid day of racing in at the Head of the
Riverfront Regatta on Sunday.
The Novice four, Novice eight, and JV “A” eight all won their events. The
Varsity eight placed eighth, the JV “B” placed fourth and the Varsity four was
also fourth.
 “Overall, it was a strong showing,” says head coach Jen Sanford. “The novices and two JV boats came off the water feeling like it was a very solid piece,
that’s what we were looking for and the results showed that what they felt was
accurate. The Varsity eight struggled a little with the head wind conditions in
the morning. We’ll have to work on rowing in different conditions for future
races.”
The Huskies next competition is The Head of the Charles
Regatta in Boston on October 24.
