UConn Rowing Wins Yankee Cup; Sunday's Rowing Is Postponed Due To High Waters

KINGSTON, R.I. (April 2) -- The University of Connecticut women's rowing team won the 2005 Yankee Cup on Saturday morning in a four-team race of New England universities.

UConn scored 35 points in the event, followed by UMass with 25, Rhode Island with 24 and New Hampshire with 13.

UConn won the Junior Varsity Eight event in a time of 7:20.8 followed by New Hampshire, UMass and Rhode Island.

The Huskies also won the Varsity Four race in a time of 8:13.4 followed by Rhode Island and UMass. UConn won the Novice Eight race in a time of 7:48.6 followed by Rhode Island, UMass and New Hampshire.

The Huskies finished third in the Varsity Eight race as UMass won that in 7:06.4 while the Huskies were third in 7:30.4.

Meanwhile, UConn's race against Fairfield, Sacred Heart and Army on Sunday was postponed due to flooding conditions.
