COVENTRY, Conn. (April 9) -- The University of Connecticut women’s
rowing team defeated Drexel in all three races of a match held on Saturday
morning at Coventry Lake.
The UConn Varsity Eight defeated Drexel as the Huskies
posted a time of 7:21.0 compared to Drexel’s 7:22.1. The UConn team consisted
of Abbey Off, Erin Andersen, Tina Spagnoli, Brooke Grauer, Nicole Rapp, Katie
Devonshuk, Steph Chivers, Alison Elmo and Ursula Henwood. In a race last year,
Drexel beat UConn by just over a second in the Varity Eight.
In the Junior Varsity Eight race, the UConn A team had a
time of 7:26.1 while UConn B was 7:44.3 and Drexel was 7:57.8. The UConn A boat
consisted of Liz Glomb, Erin Bartie, Valerie Voorhees, Christina Cotter, Jodi
Hope, Kali Garges, Heather Ferrick, Jenn Rogers and Kerri Mocko.
The B boat was a combination of the Varsity Four boat and
Novice Four boat. It consisted of Gabbey LaChance, Heather Cannon, Niki
DeCambra, Bethany Caron, Kara Forman, Caitlin Champ, Laura Yolen, Lauren
Colello and Michelle Stathers.
In the Novice Eight race, UConn had a 7:44.1 time while
Drexel had a 8:44.3. That UConn boat was consisted of Katie Beasley, Monica
Parker, Kim Raetz, Whitney Peterson, Caitlin Meisinger, Kate Jureller, Kelly
McGary, Arielle Shiely and Allyson Zoppa.
