Kaitlyn Shain Earns First Team All-Hockey East Honors

BOSTON, Mass. (March 3, 2006) - University of Connecticut senior Kaitlyn Shain (Calgary, Alberta) earned First Team All-Hockey East Honors as announced by the league at the annual postseason banquet on Friday evening. Sophomore Jaclyn Hawkins (Manotick, Ontario) was the second Husky to be honored, earning Honorable Mention status.

Three Huskies Named To Hockey East Honor Roll

WAKEFIELD, Mass. (February 28, 2006) - Junior Alicia Ramolla (Barrie, Ontario), senior Kaitlyn Shain (Calgary, Alberta) and junior Natalie Vibert (Thunder Bay, Ontario) were all named to the Hockey East Weekly Honor Roll as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

Women's Hockey Closes Out Season With 5-2 Loss At Providence

Providence, R.I. (February 26, 2006) - Providence College scored three goals in the third period to close out a 5-2 victory over the University of Connecticut women's ice hockey team on Saturday. With the loss, UConn is eliminated from playoff contention and finish the season with a record of 12-21-1 overall and 10-11-0 against Hockey East opponents. Providence, who wrapped up the regular season with a 17-13-4 overall mark and 11-8-2 record in the league, will receive a spot in the Hockey East tournament.

Women's Hockey Holds Off Providence, 2-1

STORRS, Conn. (February 25, 2006) - Freshman Kristen Russell (Dauphin, Manitoba) picked up the game winner on the power play at the 9:29 mark in the third period as the University of Connecticut women's ice hockey team defeated Providence, 2-1, on senior day in the Mark Edward Freitas Ice Forum.

Women's Hockey Shutout At No. 1 New Hampshire, 6-0

DURHAM, N.H. (February 19, 2006) - The University of Connecticut women's hockey team fell to No. 1 New Hampshire, 6-0, on Sunday afternoon in the Whittemore Center. It was the final game of the season series between the two teams, with the Wildcats capturing all three games of the series.
