Moloi, Forko Selected In 2006 Major League Soccer Supplemental Draft
STORRS, Conn. (January 26, 2006) - Mpho Moloi (Soweto, South Africa) and Willis Forko (Houston, Texas) of the University of Connecticut men’s soccer team were selected in the 2006 Major League Soccer (MLS) Supplemental Draft held Wednesday afternoon from the league’s offices. Moloi was taken by the newest MLS team, Houston 1836, in the first round with the seventh overall draft pick, while Forko was selected by Real Salt Lake in the second round with the 14th pick. The duo becomes UConn’s 13th and 14th players to be drafted by MLS teams since the league’s inception in 1996.

Men's Soccer Coach Paul McDonough Named National Assistant Coach of the Year
STORRS, Conn. (January 20, 2006) - University of Connecticut assistant men’s soccer coach Paul McDonough has been selected as the 2005 College Assistant Coach of the Year, as announced Friday at the National Soccer Coaches of America (NSCAA) annual convention in Philadelphia’s Pennsylvania Convention Center. The East Region Coach of the Year, McDonough has helped lead the program to back-to-back BIG EAST Tournament championships, as well as the 2005 regular season crown.

Three Huskies Take The Stage At MLS Combine
CARSON, Calif. (January 13, 2006) - Three former members of the University of Connecticut soccer team will compete this weekend in the 2006 adidas Major League Soccer Player Combine, held for the third consecutive year at The Home Depot Center on the campus of Cal State Dominguez Hills in Carson, Calif. from Jan. 12-15. Willis Forko (Houston, Texas), Mpho Moloi (Soweto, South Africa) and Adam Schuerman (Brookfield, Wis.) completed stellar Husky careers this past season before entering the MLS SuperDraft, set for Friday, Jan. 20.
